China Medical University with advancing academic stature is ranked 57th in the Top 100 Universities in Asia

Good news came to China Medical University with the newly released Times Higher Education ranking of the Top 100 Universities in Asia. China Medical University, with brilliant performance in teaching, research and services, has advanced 12 steps to rank 57th and is the top-ranked private universities in Taiwan.

Surviving Mesothelioma, a world-renowned website on a rare type of cancer, has quoted research results derived from collaboration between Vice President Trong-Neng Wu’s team and the Division of Environmental Health at National Health Research Institute to make a special report. It calls for close attention to the health of workers whose jobs are to disassemble aged ships. In May, 2014, National Geographic Channel also made a special report entitled “Song of Iron and Blood” on this group of workers. It drew the attention of international scholars on an unfair link of workers in lower economic strata to poor health. 

 


Tai Chi, in reviving and renewing stem cells, is beneficial for promoting health and longevity ~ Research results by an investigator team integrating traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine

Tai Chi, as a type of exercise, carries numerous benefits! A traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) research team led by Prof. Jaung-Geng Lin, a world-renowned TCM doctor, in collaboration with a Western medicine team directed by Prof. Shinn-Zong Lin, an authority in regenerative neurosurgery, has made a major discovery on the benefits of Tai Chi in reviving and renewing stem cells in promoting health and longevity. The paper, with Dr. Tsung-Jung Ho as the first author and entitled “Tai Chi Intervention Increases Progenitor CD34+ Cells in Young Adults”, is the cover article in the latest issue of Cell Transplantation and has been quoted in NATURE World News and reported by newspapers in London, Madrid and China. This paper was also commended by American Association in Advancement of Science (AAAS). All in a sudden, Tai Chi has become a popular discipline for health promotion.

China Medical University awards teachers with excellent achievements in academia-industry collaboration

China Medical University has made brilliant accomplishments in academia-industry collaboration that are pivotal in advancing industrial and marketing competitiveness along with substantial impact in promoting citizen health. After review and assessment, 16 faculty members won Year 102 Excellence in Academia-industry Collaboration and Tech Transfer Awards that were presented by President Wen-Hwa Lee to the winners on June 11 in the University Administrative Meeting.
