Legislator Yu-Hsin Yang, accompanied by representatives of disability welfare organizations, visited China Medical University to learn about recent R&D advances in the development of devices for assis

To understand the status of domestic R&D, production and delivery of assistive devices for disable people, Legislator Yu-Hsin Yang, accompanied by representatives from organizations on disability welfares, visited the Biomedical Engineering R&D Center at China Medical Univerity. Prof. Jin-ChernChiou, the Center Director, presented newly developed devices for cancer screening and neuro-rehabilitation and beds with sensors for detecting movement of patients. Legislator Yan gave high praises to the investigators across disciplines for devoting their expertise and efforts to develop assistive devices to meet the needs of disadvantaged people with disability.

With increasing academic exchanges across the Strait and the recent advances of China Medical University toward the world-class level, President Jong-Tsun Huang, upon invitation, led a China Medical University team to visit Anhui Medical University and Anhui University of Chinese Medicine for 5 days, starting January 14, 2014. President Huang signed memorandum of understanding with President Zhang Xuejun of Anhui Medical University for collaboration on education and research, providing a platform for more intense academic exchanges by faculty members and students between the two universities. President Huang was also invited to give a lecture, presenting the current trend of university leadership which emphasizes student-centered with social responsibility. How to balance achievements between education with R&D and how to judge steady vs evolving university affairs were also addressed in his speech. President Huang’s expertise and experience in leading China Medical University were well received by the scholars hosting this event who also gave warm feedback.


Added values to win-win academia-industry collaboration – China Medical University and Asia University Alliance sponsored the First Forum of Innovation on Health and Cosmetic Products in the Taichung,

The First Forum of Innovation on Health and Cosmetic Products in the Taichung, Changhua and Nanto Region was held on January 9, 2014 at Asia University. China Medical University and Asia University Researchers working in the relevant disciplines came out in full strength to attend this Forum. They shared expertise and R&D accomplishments with nearly 100 attendants from the industry and explored future R&D directions and new product trends. Prof. Chih-Yang Huang, Asia University R&D Dean, made opening remarks, anticipating that academia-industry collaboration would facilitate the conversion of innovative ideas into products of market values to benefit the public.

The China Medical University Academia-Industry Cooperation Year-end Party was held on January 9, 2014. This year, companies in collaboration with China Medical University were invited to attend this dinner party. Representatives from more than 40 companies joined this event and took the opportunity to make contact across different fields for expanding business alliance. The party went on with high spirits. Vice President Yang-Chang Wu praised liaison between academia and industry for facilitating homonymous collaboration.
